How Sweet

On the first day of taraweeh, I was on cloud nine, alhamdulillah. Why? Because I understood (mostly) what was being recited. In AlHuda, we had finished a little more than half of the first Juzz’ so hearing the Qari recite that… was amazing, to say it in one word. That got me thinking, what if the whole jam-packed masjid had understanding of the Qur’an? What if they knew why the Qari emphasized one verse or repeated another? What if it touched all their hearts? Where then would our Ummah be?

Sigh. It’s Ramadan. Which also makes it the best time to make du’aa for the betterment of the Ummah 🙂 The moral of the story: learn the meaning of the Qur’an. WaAllahi, it changes your life, your outlook, your Eman, your… everything. Alhamdulillahi rabbil alameen.

  1. That’s so deep and true mashaAllah. What a blessing wa lilah alhamd — araby all the way (the true araby) 😉

  2. I really felt this yesterday at taraweeh, seeing so many people and wallahu ‘alam but most of them not understanding the quran. Then you hear the words of Allah swt and the wisdom and morals behind it and you really start thinking ‘wow, we would be such an awesome ummah if we knew the true meaning of the quran!’ sigh

  3. Sweet indeed…May Allah grant us all understanding of the whole quran with application…..
SubhanAllah there is even a difference between ‘understanding’ and….’really understanding’…
As in the ayah that I can just basically translate doesn’t hit me as deep as an ayah that I heard/read the full tafseer of in context with the situation it was revealed and the secrets of the balagha behind it and the specificity of each word…
It is just not the same!
